Garage Door Installation – How to Install the Torsion Bar
The torsion bar that above the garage door installation, with a spring coiled around it, is an important part of the system. It is adjusted so that it has just enough tension to assist a person or the opener with opening the heavy door without becoming too stiff and producing a loud series of bangs as the door is opened and closed.
What is the use of garage door?
The door kit comes with a set of detailed installation instructions. Read these and follow them. To start, put together the main assembly of the rail. The rail should come in several pieces that fit easily together. When the rail is assembled, slide the carriage (also known as a trolley) over the rail.
If the door will be motorized, crimp the latch cable through the upper handle hole on the end stile (or the lower hole for left hand doors). On the inside, mount the lock plate over the square handle stem that protrudes from the top and bottom of the handle. Screw the outside handle to the plate. If the door will be operated manually, decide which end you want the lock to be on and drill a pilot hole through that end stile and into the next stile down. Mount the snap latch in that location.
While working, be careful not to drop parts or tools that are under spring tension. Also be sure pets and children are kept away from the work area. If your pet or child wanders too near the door while you’re installing it, it could be seriously hurt.
